There’s Something in the Barn … and It Does Not Like American Christmas

It’s November 1st, which means it’s officially time to start watching holiday horror movies. Right? Right. (Though I’ll save Rare Exports for Christmas Eve. Traditions are important!)

The latest wacky holiday hijinks come courtesy of some very cranky Norwegian barn elves, who don’t take kindly to the American family that inherit the house that comes with their barn. What don’t they like? Bright lights! Loud noises! Everything we’re so good at once Halloween is over!

Martin Starr (Party Down) leads this family murder-comedy; Amrita Acharia (Game of Thrones) plays his wife. Along with their two kids, the couple move to a house in Norway that is, as daughter Nora (Zoe Winther-Hansen) notes, in the middle of nowhere. The cops don’t have guns. The locals don’t understand why these Americans yell “HI! HELLO!” when they walk into the local dining establishment.

And the barn elf doesn’t like changes to his barn.

There’s Something in the Barn is directed by Magnus Martens (yes, he’s Norwegian), who’s directed episodes of everything from Luke Cage to Longmire to Fear the Walking Dead. The movie is written by Aleksander Kirkwood Brown, Josh Epstein, and Kyle Rideout, the latter two of whom are also actors.

Step into the barn when the film arrives in theaters and on demand December 1st.
